Membership
While you can be involved with the station as a subscriber, or get your business to sponsor us, if you wanted to become a part of the actual running of the station, you would become a member. Anyone in the general public, with the approval of the RTRFM board, can become a member of the station.
Most of our members are involved with day to day operating of the radio station as staff or as volunteers in the office or on air. In fact, all of our broadcasters are required to be members so that they promise to adhere to our code of conduct for on-air announcers, called the Presenter’s Agreement, and so that they are covered by our insurance.
Being a member also means being unable to win any of the competitions and giveaways available to subscribers but it does involve the right and responsibility to vote on all matters at the Annual General Meeting or various other meetings, such as Extraordinary General Meetings, as well. Further involvement in other volunteer positions at the station is also available to members.
Membership is not to be confused with subscription – which is a financial contribution to the station vital to our finances and ongoing operation for which certain privileges are given in return (such as discounts at certain retail outlets, and the ability to enter giveaways). Membership is about direct involvement with the station and is available for an annual fee of $35, which covers a financial year. See the Membership Application form for more details.
