JAZZ ON A WINTERS NIGHT – RTRFM’s Annual Jazz in July Fundraiser

Another year has passed and RTRFM in association with the Perth Jazz Society will again be presenting its annual fundraising event Jazz in July.

Jazz on a Winter’s Night will feature many of Perth’s outstanding jazz artists including the Graham Wood Trio, vocalist Helen Matthews, soul/blues wunderkind Alida Wright.

Also on the evening recent WAAPA graduate tenor saxophonist Alistair McEvoy will hit the stage in support of RTRFM.

Alistair was a recent finalist in the James Morrison award in 2005 and is a member of the Chamelon Brass Band which burns up the stage at the Funk Club on the final Friday of every month.

Tickets are only available on the door on the night for $10 for RTRFM subscribers and Perth Jazz Society members,$12 concession and $15 for general admission.

Doors will open at 6.30 pm so head down early to get a great table. Please note that this event sold out early in the evening last year.

Saturday Jazz, 9am to 11am on RTRFM has a long and decorated history on the station. Its inaugural presenter was the late Graham Fisk followed by John Green and Brian Davis.

Providing the best of jazz from its beginings to present day sounds, Saturday Jazz is currently presented by Warren Kimble, Dick Hurn and Helen Matthews – who will also be compering the evening.

Giant Steps, noon til 2pm on Sundays is the the program specialising in jazz for the 21st Century. So don’t forget to tune into RTRFM 92.1 on weekends.
