In the background you might hear birds from North Lake, nesting, and flying about in the City of Cockburn, not far from the Kwinana Freeway, and right in the way of the proposed Roe 8 Highway extension.

Hello, I’m Adrian Glamorgan, and today and next week Elizabeth PO’ and I bring our environmental news about the City of Cockburn.

With a protest rally planned for 11am this Saturday at Bibra Lake, we’ll be finding out from the Mayor of Cockburn where it stands on the issue.

But first, Elizabeth PO’ walks along the shoreline of nearby North Lake, to find out from Nundi Chinna more about why the wetlands matter.

Understorey went along to the City of Cockburn and we met the Mayor of Cockburn, Logan Howlett, to ask where he and the Council stood.
