Adam Trainer
Adam Trainer is the station’s music director and events manager. He’s also a musician, having played around town in a number of indie rock bands, and also as a solo artist. Over the years he has worked as a music journalist, an academic, including a stint lecturing film and TV in Malaysia, a research associate for an education and training consultancy, and a milkman. Adam is incredibly passionate about music, and when he’s not spinning it on air, is usually playing it himself, listening to it, writing about it or thinking about it.

Stories by this Presenter
Q & A
How did you become involved?
I had been involved with the station since I was in and out of the studio as a musician, in another life. When the Posted programme kicked off I was involved as a ring-in co-presenter, and became a regular presenter in 2008.
How long have you been with RTRFM?
I’d say it’s probably been since the mid 2000s, but as there was no definitive starting point it’s hard to say.
What do you enjoy most about presenting?
Being able to share the music that I’m passionate about with other people, especially great local music. I also really enjoy constructing a show, and figuring out new ways of linking disparate music together through common threads.
Strangest experience at RTRFM?
I once had a listener call to tell me he thought my voice was sexy and that he’s like to lick my voice box. Somehow I think it may have been a prank call.
Favourite RTRFM programs?
Posted and Out to Lunch obviously, but I also dig Underground Solution, Ambient Zone, Drivetime and Difficult Listening.
