Jazz Hayward

Jazz Hayward, the person behind the Movie Squad podcast, became part of the RTRFM family in May 2008. Initially sitting in the shadows, she’s now blossomed into Peter Barr’s right hand lady on a Friday. She first sat in the presenter’s chair for Snooze Button in June 2009 and has started pre-recording a few spots on Breakfast and Morning Mag. It’s only a matter of time before world domination. Q & A

How did you become involved with the station and your program?
Well I had Peter Barr as a tutor for one of my units at uni. It wasn’t until I started the Presenting and Producing part that I pestered Mr Barr and he allowed me to become a production assistant. The rest, as they say, is history. I’ve done more and more around the place and I’ve gotten to know the people that fly in and out of the RTR offices. After a hiatus from behind the desk, I did the RTR presenters course in Feb 2009 and now I try to do one overnight show a month and I’ll hopefully be taking on more in the future.

How long have you been with RTRFM?
Since May 2008

What do you enjoy most about presenting?
Sharing music and thoughts with people. I love connecting with people on the airwaves. Somehow, despite it being lonely at 4am in Studio A, I don’t quite feel alone.

Strangest experience at RTRFM?
Interviewing many a soused WA celebrity (including Cutter) at the WAMI’s 09, the presenters course brought together some strange but wonderful characters. Swooning when Eddie Perfect came into the studio for Morning Mag…

Favourite RTRFM programs?
With Mr Barr being the Jedi to my Padowan, it has to be Breakfast, but I do love the Mag. It’s great to find out about things that I wouldn’t normally know about.

What do you do in real life?
Well I’m currently finishing my uni degree and peeing my pants about what to do after I graduate. I try to go to as many gigs as I can afford, both local and international. I also work at JBHiFi which happily feeds my CD and DVD addiction.
