Q & A
How did you become involved?
Many years ago I used to do guest spots on Black and Blue and Gettin’ Hectic with Chris Wright and Jeff Long. And later when I returned from living in Hong Kong with loads of wonderful hard dug vinyl, Chris “Claude Mono” Webb said he wanted to get me on board and start operating the desk for Soulsides, not long after that we both started coordinating Soulsides (thanks to Bebo).
How long have you been with RTRFM?
Officially about five and a half years.
What do you enjoy most about presenting?
Spinning wicked Jazz Funk & Soul records on air to the people who dig it. Having a ball with Claude and Francesco and getting those special calls from the ladies and gentlemen who are enjoying the sounds on the airwaves.
Strangest experience at RTRFM?
A couple of years ago General and myself were doing a Christmas Eve show for Soulsides, everything was going along nicely when my son Isaac rang to let me know that something terrible had happened, my beloved Vespa scooter that I had since I was 18 got stolen – that felt strange! Oh, and Paul Gamblin’s early arrivals into the studio.
Favourite RTRFM program?
There are so many great shows but here’s a dozen in no particular order:
Sunday Morning Coming Down, Drastic on Plastic, El Ritmo, All City, Jamdown, BlackNBlue, Nostalgia, Global Rhythm Pot, Underground Solution, Full Frequency, Giant Steps and of course the Premier Soul Show in Oz Soulsides!
What do you do in real life?
I’m a Social Trainer and Support Worker for students and adults with disabilities.
