Paul van Lieshout Hunt

I was conceived in 1991…I won’t tell you how…it’s a scary thought.
Perth’s my home town; I love the sense of community although it lacks culture.
Dance and a bit of roots are what I live for.

Being a student my main diet consists of dust from vacuum cleaners and occasional bugs that crawl across the room.

I believe in social change…I want my career to lead me into civil rights and current affairs. In the future I’d like to present a current affairs TV/Radio program dedicated to pressing issues in our community.

Q & A

How did you become involved?
I studied Radio Broadcasting at Central TAFE with Danae Gibson (who worked at RTR at the time). I must have done something right…because soon I was put forward as part of the collective at on Young Blood.

Since the beginning of 2009 I have volunteered at RTR and it’s become a station that I love and want to stay a part of.

How long have you been with RTRFM?
RTR has been a fantastic part of my life since I joined in February 2009. It’s been a great chance to learn ALL aspects of how a community radio station is run.

What do you enjoy most about presenting?
Going on air is an amazing experience. Adrenalin rushes and you get put under pressure. Although it becomes less scary every time you go to air…it is still exhilarating.

I love how you are always learning. Every program has different contact and being in the media means you are always kept up to date with what is happening around you and in your community.

Strangest experience at RTRFM?
Watching some crazy man spray-paint the windows with what looked like human feces.

Favourite RTRFM programs?
Because I love Dance music…I would have to say ALL THINGS QUEER and FULL FREQUENCY. Although I am loyal to YOUNG BLOOD and MORNING MAG.

What do you do in real life?
Being a nocturnal creature…I spend A LOT of my time in local pubs and bars…in particular bar 399 and of course the Moon. I have a lot to do with my community. I’m studying for a Bachelor of Arts and Commerce at the moment majoring in broadcasting and journalism.
