Ray Grenfell
How did you become involved with the station and your program?
I first got involved with RTRFM shortly after Indymedia went to air in 2004.
How long have you been with RTRFM?
Since mid 2004.
What do you enjoy most about presenting?
The ability to empower people within the community to speak out on local, national and international issues, the opportunity to interview all sorts of people struggling for social, environmental and economic justice from all over Australia and the world, and having an excuse to get into gigs for free.
Strangest experience at RTRFM?
When we managed to turn Distant Murmurs into a poor rendition of Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds. There was widespread rioting and looting in the RTRFM carparks for at least seven minutes.
Favourite RTRFM program/s?
Indymedia, Posted, Out To Lunch, Bordak Bordak Ngalla, Drivetime, Morning Magazine, Distant Murmurs (RIP), News From Nowhere (RIP) etc.
What do you do in real life?
I study film and radio, play in local outfit Blac Blocs, spout the occasional bit of poetry, create self indulgent experimental noise art with Catastrophe, organise activist activities and gigs, produce films and try to find time to sleep. I also like sex and avocado.
