Tess Earnshaw
Tess’ first job, at 15, was at 6PM in the Programme Department, cataloguing and programming. She later, worked at 6IX, filling in, in various capacities, from Secretary to Manager and Programme Manager, to scheduling, switchboard, programming, and assisting Sports Co-ordinator.
When Australia’s Amateur Hour came to Perth, she assisted with auditions and the production of the programme.
She then married the Breakfast/Sports announcer, in 1956, and left to raise a family. In 1978/79 she did some reading of books on 6UVS (RTR’s predecessor).
Tess then returned to Radio in 1992 as a presenter on Nostalgia and in about 1995 began doing guest programmes in York and, after moving to York in 2001, became secretary and training officer for 101.3 York FM.
Since then, Tess has done a variety of programmes there from Jazz to interviews and chat shows and is currently presenting Breakfast and a medical chat show with a local doctor. Before moving to York, she also did a jazz programme for Fremantle Radio for a few years.
Tess retired from Nostalgia last year but returned when George Black became ill.
