Mark’s dulcet tones can be heard every few weeks on Sunday’s Rockin’ the Roots, in a regular guest starring role on Thursday’s Woodstock Rock, and occasionally burning the midnight oil and beyond on our overnighter programs.

Q & A

How did you become involved with the station and your program?
After moving to Perth from Northern England last year I was considering going postal after listening to commercial radio and the national broadcaster but luckily a friend suggested RTRFM. The dial has been tuned to 92.1 ever since.

I have a pretty eclectic music taste, and having cut my teeth on the Snooze Button and Dawntreader shows, approached Damian Smith and was delighted to be welcomed aboard the Rockin the Roots team. It is like one big happy family and believe it or not we don’t all have beards!

I am also privileged to be a regular guest on the RTRFM institution ‘Woodstock Rock’. As far as I am concerned it doesn’t get much better than that.

How long have you been with RTRFM?
I started volunteering last June 2008 at the station and completed the presenters course last November.

What do you enjoy most about presenting?
I get to play my records and more importantly now can almost justify my insane vinyl habit. I have also been fortunate to meet some like-minded and very wonderful people too.

Strangest experience at RTRFM?
Waking up in a tent in the Hills at midnight, packing my records in the van and driving down to present the snoozebutton show. That was quite odd!

Favourite RTRFM programs?
Woodstock Rock, Rockin the Roots, Out to Lunch, Dan & Rok’s Friday Full Frequency, Jamdown Version, Global Rhythm Pot, Soulsides, El Ritmo. That enough for you?

What do you do in real life?
I am a very hard working Furniture Design student (no really!). Go to gigs, visit records shops, day dream, live a semi nomadic life (explain another time!) with my very lovely wife. You know, stuff! What is a real life anyway?
