New research shows every dollar spent on needle exchange and syringe programs has saved Australia’s various health budgets four times as much.

And, more importantly lives have been saved, chronic infections avoided and the wider community has benefited.

The Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations report indicates that increases in the distribution of injecting equipment will lead to a further decrease in HIV infection.
