Last night there was a priceless exchage at Meri Fatin’s dinner table.

Meri asked to be reminded of the details of Star Wars character The Supreme Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sidious, as she prepared to meet the actor who portrayed him, Ian McDiarmid.

So, both Meri’s teenage sons talked her through the entire series in concurrent earnest monologues.

Then, her eldest son got up and said ‘By the way, a guy at school told me he’s a good Shakespearean actor too’.

Ian McDiarmid is in town for the Perth International Arts Festival’s production of ‘Six Characters in Search of an Author’, and he joined Meri Fatin on Morning Magazine.
