The first report from the WA Government’s Indigenous Implementation Board highlights that the state has failed to address the needs of Aboriginal people.
Indigenous Affairs Minister Kim Hames has told Parliament the Government will address the problems the report has identified.
He also believes they’re not recent problems and have developed over a considerable period of time.
However, the report says there’s a lack of urgency in the response to social failure in WA and predicts problems like substance abuse and child neglect will worsen in the short to medium term.
Chairman of the Indigenous Implementation Board Lieutenant General John Sanderson joined Paul Ledingham on Morning Magazine to discuss the findings of the board’s report and what actions should be taken to resolve these problems.
