The latest CSIRO report on WA’s drying climate is a serious wakeup call for the State Government on water efficiency.
The reports found water levels in the South West will fall by an average of 25 percent by 2030, but could possibly fall by half.
The State Opposition warns that if serious actions not taken, the South West faces critical water shortages, horticulture will be under severe pressure and our coastal wetland system may collapse.
The CSIRO’s Dr Don McFarlane is Project Leader of the South-West Sustainable Yields Project and joined Bren McGurk on Morning Magazine.
