We all remember the devastating bushfires that ravaged Victoria last year killing over 200 people who literally could not get away quick enough.

This Australia day – an expected crowd of around 1000 Christians will gather in Springvale, Melbourne to pray for God’s protection over Australia during the bush fire season.

Harmless enough it seems.

For those who believe it will bring hope, for those who don’t… well it does them no harm does it?

That aside, the University of Melbourne Secular Society is planning to protest the prayers.

President of the Melbourne University Secular Society Jason Ball joined Travis Collins on Morning Magazine to discuss the protest.
