We’ve been keeping you updated with the situation on the Indonesian ruled West Papua.

Recently talks were held at the Pacific Island Forum, but the topic of West Papua wasn’t mentioned, leaving many angry at Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu, for bowing to Indonesian pressure.

The issue has even reached Australian shores with Indonesia supposedly requesting the conference West Papua’s Search for Self-Determination, to be halted.

To help sort through the issue, Meri Fatin spoke to the Co-Convenor of the West Papua Project at the University of Sydney Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies Dr Jim Elmslie.
