Since June… 10 Australian soldiers have died in Afghanistan.

The latest casualty – Lance-Corporal Jared MacKinney – was part
of the Royal Australian Regiment’s 6th battalion – which is now the
hardest-hit infantry battalion since the Vietnam War.

We’ve been in the country since 2001 and 21 soldiers have been
killed – in the last three months we’ve lost almost half of them.

To find out what’s changed so much in the recent months, and
whether this trend will continue… I’m joined by The Australian
National University’s Senior Lecturer in International Relations and
Strategy… Dr Michael McKinley.
