With Patrick Pittman otherwise engaged, Autobot Barr and Optimus Grace discussed the sad news this morning on Movie Squad on Breakfast.

The King of Pop is dead at 50. Although not being movie news, many of Michael Jackson’s music videos could be considered as short films; most notably ‘Thriller’ and ‘Bad’ (Directed by Martin Scorsese). Another star that also passed away is the Queen of Hair, Farrah Fawcet, who became a household name through her role in ‘Charlie’s Angels’.

To lighten the mood the pair discussed the Top Ten films around the world. An interesting point to note is that ‘Star Trek’ has taken as much money in the US as ‘Terminator Salvation’ and ‘Angels and Demons’ combined.

Now for something completely different…or not as the case may be.

‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ is the sequel to previous live action Transformers movie, directed by Michael Bay. Many think the ‘fallen’ in the title refers to the return of Megatron (a bad robot) but it is referring to a fallen Autobot related to Optimus Prime (a good robot). The plot is pretty much the same as the first film: Good Robots and Bad Robots and have a fight. Again. For 2 hours.

Verdict: So little attention to character development. Big, loud, dumb and boring. The action is furious but unintelligible. The most interesting thing is political subtext. This has all the workings of a bad Michael Bay film along the lines of ‘Armageddon’ and ‘Pear Harbor’ (sic). Transformers 2: Nil Point.
