Like sands through a projector, these are the movies of our lives. Although sand in a projector is not so good…
Friday is the day that Mr Paul Grace, Anita Walker and Peter Barr take to the stage like that tap-dancing cow on TV and dance their little hearts out. And you know…maybe reviewing some movies as well.
There’s 3 movies lining up this week for your viewing pleasure…
‘Step Up 3D’ – Directed by John Chu. Starring…dancers dressed as actors…
Synopsis: A bunch of street-wise New York dancers…dance and battle the best hip-hop dancers around. There’s a journey. There’s crumping…in 3D!
Review (AW): The 3D is pretty good – it didn’t make me sick. The dancing is great and impressive. Most of the actors are from ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ America so the question remains about their acting ability.
‘The Special Relationship’ – Directed by Richard Loncraine. Starring Michael Sheen, Dennis Quaid, Hope Davis, Helen McCrory.
Synopsis: A dramatization that traces former U.K. prime minister Tony Blair’s (Sheen) relationships with Bill Clinton (Quaid) and George W. Bush.
Review (PG): Michael Sheen is brilliant. Dennis Quad is not. Hope Davis is amazing as Hilary. It feel like a bit of a TV movie. The Monica Lewinsky and Kosovo stuff is fascinating. Reminded of how much of a rock star Tony Blair is. Good watch.
‘The Ghost Writer’ – Directed by Roman Polanski. Starring Pierce Brosnan, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Williams, Kim Catrall, Tom Wilkinson.
Synopsis:A ghost-writer (McGregor) hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister (Brosnan) uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy.
Review (PG): Given the pedigree, I was a little disappointment. Dialogue is a little bad – very unsubtle. Terrible Photoshopping of the evidence. Pierce Brosnan is pretty terrible as the prime minister – negatory gravitas.
