After a string of early releases in 2007 some of which appear on this record along with DJ slots in New York and House music’s capital Chicago Manchester’s Trus’ Mehas finally released his debut record Workin’ Night. Working Night$ is eight tracks of deep and funky disco-house floor fillers that show Trus’ Me influences are firmly locked in Northern Soul, Madchester, and Chicago and San Francisco House and Deep House movements. Trus’ Me rise has been nothing short of meteoric having made a name for himself as a DJ on both sides of the Atlantic and being lauded by the likes of Mad Matts of Raw Fusion, Worldwide’s Gilles Peters, and uber DJ and producer Ashley Beedle.

The album’s material however probably works better in a standalone format with the singles from the album making valuable additions to record boxes of any House DJ that has a conscience 2008. However as a whole album Workin’ Night$ does get a little tedious as it never stretches beyond it’s laidback deep-house and funky disco-house in it’s approache. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but compared to his contemporaries such as Masters at Work it could see him have limited time in the sun if future efforts don’t show development and variety. Working Night$ shouldn’t be considered ground breaking but in a market flooded with an over abundance of paint by numbers rubbish that is currently force feeding the dance community cheesy electro and breaks clones ad nauseam then Trus’ Me’s arrival couldn’t be any more timely.
