Youth News Project

The RTRFM Youth News Project is funded by the Department for Communities and enables young, exciting, budding journalists the chance to report of their world.

The Youth Reporters made up of university and high school students from metropolitan Perth are tasked with the job of researching, producing and presenting radio stories about young people in their communities.

These reports tell the story of young people doing amazing things in within their community and then broadcast on RTRFM and posted onto the Youth News Project blog.

It can be about the little old lady next door who has two hundred cats but only one dog or the young rugby player who refuses to believe he will never play rugby again.

Working alongside other community organisations such as the YMCA, SEITA, CareerLink and universities, UWA, Curtain and Edith Cowan the RTRFM Youth New Project aims to give all people a voice and highlight the amazing things young people can achieve and are achieving.

The stories are pre-recorded and played throughout the RTRFM program grid. The reporters have brought a uniqueness to the station and allowed us to connect with our young and old listeners.

RTRFM have created a blog specifically for the project. A place where our young reporters can show their work and a place where you can learn a little about the people involved.
