Sponsorship on RTRFM works because clients are able to reach particular sections of the Perth community cheaply and effectively. For example, clients can target youth listeners by sponsoring weekday programs or mature listeners by sponsoring weekend morning programs. This means none of your sponsorship announcements are wasted on an audience outside your target demographic.

As a community radio station RTRFM is limited to only five minutes of sponsorship announcements per hour. This means a client’s message is not lost in a sea of advertising. Furthermore, RTRFM spends considerable time producing every sponsorship announcement to ensure that is effective for the sponsor, and suitable for RTRFM’s sound.

Effective sponsorship

There are three types of campaigns available to RTRFM sponsors: call to action promotions, branding promotions, and ‘RTRFM presents’ packages:

Call to Action Promotions

• Focus on upcoming events such as concerts, plays, sales or special deals.
• Intended to inspire the listener to take action, and require a heavy presence on the air.

Branding Promotions

• Help position your business in the market
• A more subtle form of advertising that requires familiarity and recognition to be successful.
• Feature a heavier schedule at the beginning of the campaign, and maintain an even spread of spots over the following weeks, giving listeners the impression that you are on air all the time.

‘RTRFM Presents’ Packages

• These packages are effectively an endorsement of upcoming events, and are only available to clients deemed to be promoting concerts, festivals, plays, exhibitions or shows of very high interest to RTRFM’s audience.
• They include a significant discount on sponsorship rates in exchange for a strong RTRFM presence on all advertising and at the event.
